This particular Xenomorph is named the “Spitter”. Compared to the other Aliens, the Spitter isn’t as physically tough or powerful. However, as its name implies, it can spit a ball of acid from a long distance, more than making up for its physical weaknesses. The Spitter is able to vary its spitting attack: it can charge its attack for a bigger single impact or rapid fire to maximize speed. Acid used for these attacks is secreted from a sack on the side of its head that emits a phosphorescent glow, making this Xenomorph poorly suited to stealth.
